Expand Your Farm Slowly
You need to get the most out of your land when playing in Farmville. This means you want to clear a large amount of land so you can grow as many crops as possible. Be careful about how much land you clear at once. It costs 15 coins to clear one plot of land, so if you clear to many at once, you wont have any coins left to buy the seeds you need to plant.
It is best to slowly expand your plots of land so you're always able to take full advantage of planting potential. After each harvest, its a great idea to replant on all your current plots first. Once this is done, it will be easier to work out how much more land you can afford to clear. Following this pattern will allow you to quickly expand your farm and you will always have enough coins to plant on all your cleared plots.

Plan Your Harvests
Another aspect of Farmville is that it can be tricky to get the timing right when harvests are ready. Each crop that you plant in the game will take a particular amount of time to mature. Once a crop is mature, you can harvest it. But dont wait too long. If you dont get back in time, your crops will wither and you'll just have to start again. It's very important to plan your plantings so that you can get back to check on your farm before this happens.
One of the best things about Farmville is that you can take it as seriously as you want to take it. If you only want to play once a week, that's fine. Just make sure you plant crops that will last that long. When you start playing though, you will not want to stay away for very long.
